Reflecting on 16 Years of Growth and Welcoming New Leadership
Our recent General Assembly was a significant event for OVO, serving as an opportunity not only to reflect on our accomplishments in 2023 and outline our plans for 2024 but also to take a moment to celebrate our journey over the past years.
This year's assembly was particularly momentous as we saw Luc Bonte, our longstanding Chairman of the Board, pass the torch after 16 years of dedicated service. The event was filled with heartfelt tributes to Luc, with many people taking the floor to express their gratitude. Luc was praised as a great man, an excellent listener, and someone who excelled at bringing diverse opinions to a common view. He received numerous gifts, reflecting how deeply appreciated he was by everyone at OVO.
While we bid farewell to Luc, we are also delighted to welcome Pol Deturck as the new Chairman of the Board. Pol brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective that will undoubtedly steer OVO towards new heights. We were also thrilled to welcome Chantal Kamatari as a new member of the Board of Directors. With her extensive experience and vision, we are confident that Chantal will lead us into an exciting new chapter of growth and innovation.
Chantal Kamatari is an experienced Performance Manager in the banking industry, specializing in ESG Risk Management, Sustainable Business Development, Financial Control, and Auditing. She holds an MBA in Applied Economics from UCLouvain-LSM and additional certifications from the University of Cambridge, UCLouvain, and The Institute of Internal Auditors.
Chantal co-founded and serves on the board of the International Non-Profit Organization BRUSSELS-AFRICA HUB, as well as other associations and a solar energy company in Rwanda. She began her career at Deloitte Belgium, then joined Belgolaise Bank and later Fortis Bank/BNP Paribas Fortis, where she has been a Corporate Social Responsibility Manager for nearly a decade.
During the event, our General Manager, Björn Macauter, provided valuable feedback on our performance in 2023. He highlighted several additional programs that complemented our usual activities, such as the Klimpala project and the SmartMbey project. These initiatives are a testament to our commitment to expanding our impact and exploring new avenues to create value for our stakeholders.
He also, of course, presented the organization's vision for 2024 and the years to come.
